The Chi-Town Series is taking a break for the month of June, so you can all save some cash up and get yourselves to the P.S.P. Chicago Open. Coming to town June 20-24, there is simply not a bigger, better event to be found.
We'd like to thank the Raiders for another outstanding effort with the reffing, but they are just spread to thin. With this event growing to 64 teams coupled with the fact that we are expecting the next event to be even larger, we'll be looking to add several more, quality refs. If your out to make a few bucks, know the game and have no participating team affiliation, let us know.
All Badlandz teams get ready for some 2-day grinds, we've got 2 complete Chicago layout X-Ball fields up every Sunday from now till the open. Of course we'll have other X-Ball fields up just some different configurations.

We will be posting the field layouts as soon as possible. Please check back for updates.
As in year's past we have chosen to break down the series into D2L and D3L divisions. This is done in an effort to help teams progress and allow growth without fear of being over classified.
D3L is a novice class, while D2L is an amature class. We threw the "L" on the end to stand for "Local" so teams stepping up to the more competitive D2L Division would not be over classified and be forced into playing D2 at any national event. As teams get too dominent and become true national touring participants we ask them to step aside and ref. or stay home and rake leaves.
If it gets outta' hand we can bust out the lap top, force everyone to get I.D.'s and crack down, but for the most part it seems to be working. If this poses significant problems please let us know, we will adjust where we can.
|
Badlandz has received our 4th X-Ball field and are expecting our 7-Man field soon. For eah Chi-Town Series we will do all we can to have the next P.S.P./N.P.P.L. fields constructed for you to play on.
|
1) All games will be inter-divisional play:
D3L plays all games against other D3L teams.
D2L plays all games against other D2L teams.
2) D2L will be allowed to furnish a coach.
3) The Chi-Town Raiders are not playing, only reffing.
4) Each event will have a larger and better prize package than ever before! Prizes are paid, first through fourth in D2L, D3L, and Young Guns at every tournament, all year long. Guaranteed, no pro-rating, no matter how many teams enter.
5) Returning Sponsors:
6) Prize disbursement info will be posted on www.chitownseries.com, so keep checking to see what your gonna win!
7) We will be announcing new (more) sponsors soon...

(We skipped the June event so we can all concentrate on the P.S.P. Chicago Open and rep' the MW)
The last two dates may need to change, because in case you haven't noticed, the Commanders Cup and the World Cup are the same week. Our guess is the N.P.P.L event will move a week or two, but you never know!
Voltage is out and the Chi-Town Raiders are in. Two years ago Voltage ran away with the series so we asked them to reff in order to give other teams an opportunity to grow. They agreed and stepped up. Now the same thing happened to the Raiders. So we asked them to step up and take over where Voltage left off. So, all events will be reffed by the Chi-Town Raiders. (Now nobody on the team can play in the events anymore; not CTR1, CTR2 or CTR3.
We're sticking with the "Bring Your Own Paint" way of doing things and all Entry Fee's will remain the same as 2006- NO INCREASE!!!
AND...
The PRIZE PACKAGE IS INCREASING!!!
That's right, companies from all around the nation have noticed how the Chi-Town Series has grown and how serious our participants are about advancing and playing national events. You've stepped up, now they are noticing and stepping up too!
This season expect more out-of-state teams than ever before! More of Michigan's finest, some Iowa gunslingers, Wisconsin killers and we've always had strong Indiana representation. But who knows what 2007 will bring.

Ask your teamates and the other series coordinators these questions, it should make your decision a little easier:
1) Do they let you bring your own paint?
2) Can you bring your own food and drinks?
3) Can you bring your family and friends to watch you through 20' high fully netted fields?
4) Do they guarantee all games will be on Airball?
5) Will you be playing more than one field?
6) Are they guaranteeing the prize package? (No Pro-Rating)
7) Non-Playing Ref's? ( You should not have to be judged by people that you will have to play later!)
8) Do they have a track record of advancing teams up through the ranks to Regional and National events? (not theoretical, Actual)
9) Will you have the ability to practice the fields in advance? (Just like the majors.)
10) Do they allow ramping? ( or are they holding back the equipment you've paid for?)
Here's our answer to all 10 Questions: YES.

The Chi-Town Series would like to Thank the 80+ teams that competed this year! Congratulations to the Raiders for their wins in both D2 and D3!!!
The Chi-Town Series has been instrumental in bringing a cohesive structure for team success in the MidWest. Voltage started locally and won the series, then they reached out regionally and now they're winning nationally, in fact ranked #1 PSP D2 X-Ball.
Year after year the best teams in the Midwest make their way to the Chi-Town Series. Now that the Raiders have won D2 their players will have to move on and their D3 team will have to move up to D2. Will they go on to be the next Voltage? Will you come on board to be the next Raiders?
The 2007 Chi-Town Series is sure to have more prizes, more teams and the best competition in the Midwest!
Thank You to all the participants and Good Luck at the World Cup! Check back for more 2007 details, Coming Soon!

'06 Final Event is October 29, 2006, Not sure if your gonna play the last event?
In an effort to help all teams we'll have the World Cup field setup for the final event. (There will be a second complete World Cup setup for regular team practices also!)
This way Badlandz players can all practice in a truly competitive environment. Right along side and head to head with the best the MidWest has to offer!

The NPPL Super 7 has just confirmed a date change moving their Boston event back a week to July 21, 22, 23. So we're gonna move our 3 and 5 Man up a week so there is no interferance for local teams. The New 3 & 5 Man Date is JULY 30, 2006
Keep an eye out for a possible PSP Date Change that may further alter local event schedules.

Chi-Town Series Standings for Event #2 have been updated.
In order to keep the Chi-Town Series an amateur, novice, rookie event we are removing the option for any team to bring in a professional or semi-pro player. The rules have been revised to reflect the new criteria and will stay that way until further notice.
Some teams are requesting to split the divisions and have all the games inter-divisional, rather than mixed. Should this prove to be a popular decision we will once again allow D2 teams to contain a pro or semi-pro player. There simply is no reason from a paying customers perspective to enter an event only to be be eliminated by a player that should be competing at the highest possible level.
Thank You
THE CHI-TOWN SERIES
Event #2 is Here and all the votes have been counted, The answer is....
NO COACHING!!!
It was extremely close, almost even, but several teams voted yes with restrictions, like only one person can yell. While only one person coaching from the team can be controlled, it's almost impossible to police the spectators. Nobody wants to get pulled 'cause their mom yelled "Go Blow His Face into the Weeds!" So we felt it best to go back to Golf Style.... SHHHHHHH!
Along with coaching there were some concerns with perceived conflict between the Chi-Town Raiders and judging Team Thunderstruck. Rather than cause the series to lose Team Thunderstruck Captain Marty Williams voluntarily pulled his team. Thanks Marty!!
A few teams expressed concerns with intermixing divisions. They have valid points, we'll leave it up to the teams to talk it out then we'll see what we can do, No Promises, but we'll be glad to listen. Keep checking the forums so a meeting can be arranged hopefully this Sunday while your all there anyhow.
The Chi-Town Series Event #2 is this Weekend - Sunday May 7, 2006!
Due to perceptions of possible conflict, Marty Williams Captain of Team Thunderstruck has voluntarily removed his team from officiating the Chi-Town Series. Reffing will now be handled by Team Voltage along with the Chicago Torq.
Chi-Town Series Standings have been updated.
Chi-Town Series Team Listings have been updated.
I am eagerly anticipating this upcoming season and even higher levels of competition. We have heard your ideas and concerns and listened to each of them adjusting and improving. Our new "Bring Your Own Paint" policy, increased prize packages, all 5-man games on Airball (exclusively) and enhanced reffing should prove to be as exciting for all the players as it is for us!
I look forward to seeing you at all of this years events!
Ron Petrucci
Tournament Director
Chi-Town Series Prizes have been listed. Standings Brackets have been updated. Other tournament information has also been updated.
TIME TO BATTLE ! The Midwest Premier Tournament Series is about to roll!
Registration is now open for the first of seven events.
Since we have announced our "Bring Your Own Paint" Policy, Several manufacturers have been in contact with The Badlandz about offering their brand to you at substancial savings. So check with us before you buy elsewhere! We should be able to release pricing several days prior to each event.
**RULE** - While we gladly allow you to Bring Your Own Paint, you MAY NOT under any circumstances SELL PAINT or any other supplies at The Badlandz Paintball Field facility. We've banned people for this in the past and we'll do it again! If you enjoy the series or The Badlandz in general please pay close attention to this rule. It is one we take extremely seriously and enforce with vigor.
Prize value per event will remain the same as the 2005 series or higher!!!
Thank You ! To returning sponsors:
Dye, Smart Parts, NXe, PMI, Empire, Proto, Shocktech, and Bad Boyz Toyz. Look for new sponsors to come on board as we get closer to the first event.
We'll be releasing the prize packages several weeks prior to the first event
For the first event we will be allowing crowd participation similar to X-Ball. So you can bring a coach! At least two fields will be setup with an X in the middle, although you're still playing traditional 5-Man scoring and rules we should have a PSP style feel to the game.
About a week after the event ends and you've all had a chance to calm down from screaming we'll let the capatains vote to see if the majority wants to play the rest of the series in a similar fashion. If they vote it down, you all go back to spectating golf style.
2006 Chi-Town Series Event Dates are in.
